Food+Tech Connect LA | First Meet-Up
The FareTrade is proud to partner with Food+Tech Connect to bring their Meet Ups to Los Angeles, the fastest growing food and technology community in the country.
The Food+Tech Connect event series is for food innovators using technology and new business models to create a better food future. These monthly events bring entrepreneurs, executives, investors, chefs, farmers, producers, journalists, hackers, designers and more together to network, share best practices and explore the future of food.
On April 29th, The FareTrade hosted the first Food+Tech Connect LA Meet Up at the Chow Now headquarters. The evening kicked off with a meet and greet around wine provided by Club W, Salad Cups from Sweet Green, Bison Stew from The Honest Bison (bacon + bison = heaven btw) and cookies from Cherry Vale Farms

Presentations kicked off with Chow Now's co-founder + CEO Chris Webb, who took us through the steps from being at the cross section of food and technology as both a start up, through becoming a thriving national business and what it takes to maintain a strong team.
Following Chris, Will Smelko introduced the group to his plant based supplement company, Ora Organics, a plant based supplement company that believes nutrients come from real, high quality food, not artificially processed junk. So it makes nutrients - meaning their supplement products are sustainably sourced from food.
To close out the evening Lauren Bartel of DYSH dished up (yup) there new and emerging app that is a cross section of Yelp + Instagram. Restaurant-hoppers, choosey foodies and indecisive diners alike will now be able to discover the best items on any menu thanks to their new smartphone application.
We are honored to work alongside Food+Tech Connect to continue organizing meetups and bring together both the food and technology communities to foster meaningful relationships and grow the community.
